Cathy Pack graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in Ancient Studies in 1996. She spent several years working on archaeological excavations in Greece and Turkey before attending the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
At SCI-Arc, Cathy was deeply influenced by the work and teachings of Robert Mangurian and Mary-Ann Ray of StudioWorks Architects. In 2000, SCI-Arc moved to downtown Los Angeles near the Fashion District. Prior to completing the permanent building, the school was housed in an enormous tent. The proximity to the Fashion District and the tent had quite an affect on her work.
Since graduating from SCI-Arc, Cathy has worked as a designer and project architect for such firms as Fung + Blatt Architects, StudioWorks Architects, and AECOM Design. Her experience ranges from residential projects to construction administration on large educational and commercial buildings.
She has also taken classes at Los Angeles Trade Technical College in the Fashion Design Department.
Cathy is a licensed architect and a LEED Accredited Professional and has been sewing since the age of eight. She has a passion for details and the technical qualities of materials. She believes that program and budget are instigators of innovation and creativity and that careful planning in design and construction is the most significant contributor to environmentalism.
